Earnest Edwards has been named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Special Teams Player of the Week, as announced on Monday, Nov. 13 on the weekly CAA Coaches conference call.
Edwards averaged 37.8 yards on five kickoff returns on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Fenway Park, including a 95-yard return for a touchdown in the first quarter of play against UMass. The return touchdown was the second of his career after he also took one back a year ago for 97-yards against Villanova.
Edwards, who leads the CAA with a 25.3 kickoff return average, racked up 238 all-purpose yards during Maine's Gridiron Series meeting with the Minutemen.
The accolade marks the second-time a Black Bear has earned the CAA Special Teams Player of the Week award (
Brandon Briggs - Oct. 30) this season.
