Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team will be playing three games in Portland at Cross Insurance Arena during the 2016-17 season.

The three games will not be included in the season ticket package.

Head Coach Red Gendron is excited for the return of hockey to Portland!

"We are very excited about this opportunity to play at the Cross Insurance Arena against very good opponents," said Gendron. "During the past three seasons we have played UNH in non-league games along with North Dakota and Michigan State at last fall's Ice Breaker at the Cross Insurance Arena. This season our line-up of games in Portland features two Hockey East league games against Boston College and Notre Dame. The package of games, which also includes a matchup with Brown University, will provide our fans in Southern Maine with the highest quality college hockey experience. For our team, the past experiences of playing in Portland have been very enjoyable because of how well attended our games have been and the atmosphere our fans have created. Because of this, we can't wait to take the ice again this season in Portland!"
