Orono, Maine -- University of Maine football's Pat Ricard was named to the STATS FCS All-American Third team on Tuesday, Dec. 20.
During his senior campaign, Ricard, a senior defensive lineman, racked up 50 tackles in 11 games, 15.5 of which coming as tackles for loss. His 15.5 tackles for loss ranked him second among Colonial Athletic Association leaders. Ricard also notched 5.5 sacks during the 2016 season, averaging 0.5 per game to place him fifth among CAA leaders.
For his career at Maine, Ricard played 44 games and was a constant force on the 'Black Hole' defensive line. Nearly a quarter of Ricard's 208 total tackles were for a loss. The Spencer, Mass. native ended his career at Maine with 47.5 tackles-for-loss, 18.0 sacks, 11 pass deflections, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a pair of kick blocks.
Ricard adds to his senior year hardware with the All-America honor coming after previously receive All-CAA first team honors, a spot on the New England Football Writers' All-New England team and a spot on the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division-I FCS All-Star team.
The STATS FCS All-America team features 100 players from 59 schools across all 13 FCS conference. The CAA led the way with 16 All-American honors in 2016.
