Women's Soccer Defeated by UNH 1-0 in America East Quaterfinal

The Black Bears' season comes to an end with the loss at Durham.

DURHAM, New Hampshire - The first round of the America East tournament ends with Maine falling short at UNH 1-0 in Durham. The Black Bears were unable to get anything going despite many second half chances.

UNH was in control for the entire first half as they out-shot Maine 9-0. 4 of those shots were on net. They also led in corner kicks 1-0 in the half.

UNH's goal came in the 15th minute as Lilly Radack picked up the lose ball in front of the Maine net and was able to fire it over the head of Maine goalkeeper Samantha Cobotic. UNH took a 1-0 lead which they would hold into halftime.

Maine swung the momentum in the second half by getting several offensive chances but were unable to capitalize. Maine was able to even the shot count 3-3 and got 3 corners in the half to UNH's 0. UNH Goalkeeper Mimi Borkan saved Maine's only shot on net which was a rocket from Shannon Armitage that would've evened the game for Maine but Borkan was able to leap high enough and knock it out of play.

The Black Bears finish their season with a 7-9-0 record and a 3-5-0 regular season conference record. Cobotic has the decision with a 5 save performance, her record is now 3-6-0. Borkan gets the decision for UNH who move on to face Albany on Sunday, her record is now 7-7-3.
