A Look at Maine
The Black Bears look to regroup after a tough road trip to Miami of Ohio. Maine earned a tie against the Red Hawks on Friday night with goals from Housakos, Fossier and LaCroix, while McGovern was able to turn out 40 saves on 43 shots on goal. The Black Bears would eventually win in a shootout on a goal by Nolan Vesey, however, for NCAA standings, it will go down in the record books as a tie.
The second night was tough skating for the Black Bears as they were unable to solve Ryan Larkin en route to a 5-0 loss to Miami (OH). The Black Bears head into Hamilton, New York looking to get back to their winning ways before Hockey East play starts the following weekend against rival Boston College.
All-Time Series
Maine and Colgate are tied 6-6-2 all-time. In their last meeting, Colgate came away victorious at Alfond Arena 5-1 on Jan. 9, 2016, Maine stole the previous meeting against the Raiders 3-1.
Scouting The Black Bears
Maine's line of
Nolan Vesey,
Chase Pearson ,and Mitch Fossier has proven to be one of the scariest in the nation. Vesey with 2 goals and 4 assists serves as the veteran force with that group, while Mitch Fossier leads the Black Beafrs in scoring with 6 goals and 3 assists through his first 6 career collegiate games.
Sophomore goaltender
Rob McGovern has made all 6 starts for Maine this season and has compiled a 3-2-1 record. He is currently averaging a .922 save percentage with a 2.70 GAA. Freshman
Stephen Mundinger made his first regular season appearance for the Black Bears in relief for McGovern on Saturday night, stifling Miami (OH) 7 times on 8 shots.
Scouting The Raiders
Colgate looks to solve the Black Bears and get their first win at the brand new Class of 1965 Arena. The Raiders are coming off a road trip to Merrimack, los-
ing both contests 3-4 and 2-5, respectively. Adam Dauda, sophomore from Kitchener, Ontario, leads the Raiders in goals (2), assists (4) and points (6) and looks to continue his scoring ways through his first four games of the 2016-2017 campaign. The Raiders boast a top-20 penalty kill, killing off 37 of their first 42 attempts for an average PK percentage of 88.1. They will look to continue this trend as the Black Bear powerplay has struggled as of late.
The Raiders have split time between three goaltenders this year, as Colton Point (DAL), a 6'4 freshman leads the team in Save Percentage at .911. Junior goaltender Bruce Racine played in the Raiders most revent contest giving up 5 goals on 32 shots to the Merrimack Warriors.
