Box Score ORONO, Maine -- For the second game in a row, Maine field hockey prevailed in overtime with a victory Friday afternoon over Vermont 3-2. Ella Mosky scored her second goal of the season from Danielle Aviani who flipped the ball over the Vermont goalie for the win.

Maine improves to 10-4 overall, their eighth consecutive season with double digit wins, and are 3-1 in America East play. Vermont falls to 6-8 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

The first half was scoreless that featured end to end action but no real scoring opportunities for either team. The Black Bears held the shooting advantage, five to one, in the first half. Maine also received three corners compared to none for Vermont.

Ten minutes into the second half, Casey Crowley scored the first goal of the day. Sydney Veljacic set up Crowley who fired a shot from the right center of the circle to give the Black Bears a 1-0 lead. Vermont answered two minutes later, Greer Wilson fired a shot from the top of the circle that was deflected to tie the game 1-1.

49:25 into the game, Veljacic centered a pass to Crowley who carried the ball into the circle and shot to the bottom right post of the goal just outside the goalie's reach, as Maine regained the lead 2-1. On that goalie, Crowley scored her ninth goal of the season.

With less than four minutes remaining in the game, Vermont chose to pull their goalie for the extra attacker. The Catamounts' Landon Warren tied the game for Vermont once again after beating Emily Corbett one-on-one to tie the game at 2-2.

Vermont won the shots battle in the second half, four to Maine's three. Maine received one corner in the second half.

In overtime, Danielle Aviani dribbled the ball through the Catamount defense and flipped it over Vermont's goalie to set up Mosky who tipped it in for the game winner. 

Emily Corbett earned the win and is now 4-2 on the season while Vermont goalie, Lena Benwood is now 6-8.

Maine hosts California Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at the UMaine Field Hockey Complex.
