SCOUTING MAINE
Maine closed out the regular season with a season sweep of UNH defeating them on Sunday, 3-2. With the win, Maine was crowned Regular Season Co-Champions of America East for the first time since 2005. Maine was able to secure the #2 seed in the East division at the America East Quarterfinals.
It is the eighth straight America East playoff appearance for the Black Bears.
MOST WINS IN REGULAR SEASON HISTORY
The Black Bears finished with 17 regular season wins which was the most in program history since 2011 (16). During the regular season Maine was able to beat UNH for the first time since 2009.
100 Career Wins
With the win against UNH on Sunday, Head Coach Josette Babineau surpassed 100 career wins with the University of Maine.
Maine is led by Senior Captain and America East All-Conference First Team Selection Nicole Sevey. The midfielder has 12 points on the season which includes three goals and six assists. The leading point scorer on the season for the Black Bears is the Junior forward, Danielle Aviani, who has 25 points from 10 goals and five assists. Sydney Veljacic, America East All-Conference Second Team selection is the leading goal scorer with 11 on the 2015 season. The Senior, Jessica Skillings, leads the Black Bears in assists with 12.
Emma Cochran and Emily Corbett have split time in net this season for Maine. Each appearing in all 20 games, Cochran finished with a 9-1 record while Corbett finished with an 8-2 record. Each have a goals against average under 1.38.

SCOUTING CALIFORNIA
The Golden Bears are entering their first ever America East playoffs as a member of the west division. They finished the season with a 9-9 record and went 3-3 in the America East play. The Black Bears are the first East division opponent they play this season.
Cal is lead by America East Rookie of the Year, Melina Moore, who lead the team in total points scored ( 23) and goals scored (10). The Freshman also earned a spot on the All-Conference Second team as well as the All-Rookie team.
Janaye Sakkas is second on the team in scoring (14) and is also second on the team in goals scored (6).
The Golden Bears throughout their 18 games played averaged 2.11 goals per game, while allowing their opponents to score 2.56. Look for the Golden Bears to attack within the circle and force a penalty corner, Cal has had more penalty corners called this season than their opponents, 104-93.
MAINE-CALIFORNIA MATCH UP
The last time these two programs played was on Oct. 27, 2013. They played in Boston, Mass. and the Golden Bears were able to come up with the victory 2-1. Jessica Skillings, Nicole Sevey, Danielle Aviani, Katie Bingle, Marissa Shaw, and Sydney Veljacic each played in the last game.

The Black Bears are currently in the top ten in six different statistical categories in the nation. They include:

FRESHMEN FIVE
Maine Field Hockey had five freshmen this season appear in all 20 games played, they include: Casey Crowley, Samantha Gomes, Ella Mosky, Libby Riedl and Samantha Wagg.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
Maine has two double digit goal scorers Aviani (10) and Veljacic (11) and two Black Bears with double digit assists Riedl (11) and Skillings (12).
