Biography

2012: Saw action in all 11 games... was part of an offensive line that allowed the third-fewest sacks in CAA.

2011: Started all 13 games at the left guard position for an offensive line that produced the first 3,000-yard passer in school history (Warren Smith) and a 1,000-yard rusher (Pushaun Brown)...the line gave up a league-low 1.54 sacks per game. 

2010: Saw game time against New Hampshire (10/2) and Villanova (10/16).

2009: Sat out the season as a redshirt . . . has four years of eligibility remaining.

BEFORE MAINE/PERSONAL: Played on the offensive and defensive lines for coach Tony Mottola at Ridge H.S. … served as a captain … helped lead his team to a 9-2 record and a berth in the Group IV semifinals … earned First-Team Group IV All-State honors … also earned first-team all-conference and all-county honors twice … earned second-team all-conference honors as a sophomore … born Oct. 18, 1990 … son of Peter and Mary Beth Gakos … majoring in childhood development and family relations.
