Honored to the 2010 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-American Third Team as well as being named to the WomensFieldHockey.com All-American Third Team ... Named America East Player of the Week after a 10 point weekend (9/13) ... Set the school record for career points when she scored a goal at Vermont (10/23) for her 106th career point and ended the season with 112 career points ... Also tied the school-mark for points in a season with 45 on the year ... Started all 19 games for Maine, finished with a career high 19 goals to go along with seven assists for a career-high 45 points ... Ranked ninth in the nation with a 1.0 goal per game mark and was tenth nationally with 2.37 points per game ... Led America East in points (45), points per game (2.37), goals (19) and goals per game (1.00) ... Recorded a hat trick in the win against Pacific (9/12) ... SOPHOMORE (2009): Had an outstanding sophomore season for the Black Bears … Named to the America East First Team … Honored to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-Northeast Region Second Team … Honored as the America East Player of the Week (9/21) and named to the WomensFieldHockey.com National Player of the Week honor roll after notching five goals and four assists for a 14 points week … started all 19 games for Maine … finished the season with 16 goals, ten assists, and 42 total points … had multiple goal performances against Bryant (8/30), Colgate (9/13), Pacific (9/18), Holy Cross (10/4) and Brown (10/11) … had a total of ten games in which she recorded two or more points … picked up ten points on four goals and two assists in a game against Pacific which tied the all-time Black Bear record for points in a game … twice had four game point scoring streaks, including a four game goal scoring streak (9/27-10/11) … finished the season averaging 2.21 points per game ... Named to the America East Honor Roll ... A Maine Scholar-Athlete Award Winner.
FRESHMAN (2008): Had one of the best freshman seasons in program history...named the America East Rookie-of-the-Year...named to the All-America East First Team...selected to the Longstreth/NFHCA All-Region First Team...America East All-Rookie selection...selected to the Womensfieldhockey.com National All-Rookie Squad...led Maine in scoring with nine goals and seven assists for 25 points...led America East with 1.67 points per game...notched both Maine goals in win against Sacred Heart (8/31)..had an eight-point game with three goals and two assists against Bryant (9/20)...Dished out an assist against Quinnipiac (9/21)...Notched another assist at Providence (9/28)...Registered a goal and an assist against New Hampshire (10/11)...had two assists against #16 Rutgers...scored a goal at Boston University (10/18)......Tallied a goal at Vermont (10/26)...Scored a goal in the America East semi-finals against New Hamsphire (11/7).
Before Maine: Captain at Crofton House School...team won the 2006 and 2007 AA high school provincial championship...also a Vancouver Regional tournament gold medalist and Canadian national tournament silver medalist...named to the ‘top ten’ team at the Canadian National tournament in 2007...an honors student.
Personal: Born March 13, 1990...daughter of Barbara and Christopher Newton...majoring in nursing...sister, Emily, plays field hockey for Queens University in Ontario.
