ORONO, Maine – University of Maine field hockey head coach Josette Babineau has announced the addition of five student-athletes to the roster.

"We are excited to welcome these great players to our Black Bear field hockey family," said Babineau. "They each bring a strong level of experience with their respective clubs and will help us in all positions. They are all incredibly dedicated and committed to our team culture and are eager to join the returning players. I look forward to their arrival and getting our season started."

Heidi Fletcher | Midfield | York, England

Competed for Crostyx Hockey Club … Led university team with 21 goals across league and cup games during 2024-25 season … won LUSL mixed championship with LSE mixed team back-to-back seasons (2023, 2024) … also won south England Cup with LSE mixed team (2024-25) … Guided York U12 team to national finalists finish … LSE 1XL league winners, promoted into BUCS south eastern tier 1, the highest ranking for LSE in program history … 

Fiona Günsch | Goalkeeper | Lüneburg, Germany

Competed for UHC Hamburg and Harvestehuder THC … Member of U18 German National Team … Played National League … two-time German Champion … three-time German vice champion and two-time North German champion … three-time Hamburg champion … Euro hockey league (youth EHL) winner … Hamburg selection country cup winner.

Annabel Halkes | Goalkeeper | Haarlem, Netherlands

Competed for Saxenburg and Almeerse Hockey Club … Named team MVP for 2024-25 season … allowed least amount of goals in first division in 2023-24 season … Dutch champion hock 5s (2025) … Won championship with Saxenburg (2023-24).

Charlotte McNeill | Forward | Harleysville, Pa.

Competed for Souderton Strikers and WC Eagles … named first team all-league, offensive MVP, and Univest Featured Athlete in 2025 … led Souderton Area high school to four-straight District appearances and the 2022 SOL Colonial League title.

Luisa Müller | Back | Munich, Germany

Named to Croatian National U18 team … named captain of the US Sport Scholarships (UK Lions) team at the national hockey festival in Florida … Participated in the Elite Sports Ways hockey camp in Amsterdam, making it to Group A.
