Orono, Maine – The University of Maine baseball program came up short in their comeback effort against UMass Lowell on Saturday afternoon.
First Pitch – 3 PM – 7-6 UMass Lowell
Scoring Plays:
Shane Andrus got the Black Bears on the board in the second inning as he hit a solo home run to left field, his fifth of the season.
Brody Rasmussen hit his fourth home run of the season in the sixth inning, a two-run shot to right field that scored
Hunter St. Denis (BB).
Quinn Murphy hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning to bring the Black Bears to within two runs in the frame.
Albert De La Rosa (BB) scored on the play.
De La Rosa made it a one-run game in the eighth inning as he hit a sac fly to right field, scoring St. Denis (BB).
Pitching Breakdown:
Vaun Larisa (3-4) went four innings in the start, allowing six unearned runs on four hits, three walks and a strikeout.
Pierce Friedman pitched the final five innings as he allowed one run on four hits, two walks and striking out two.
Next Time Out:
The Black Bears (17-29) wrap up their weekend series against UMass Lowell on Sunday, May 10. First pitch is scheduled for Noon with the Senior Day ceremony set to begin at 11:40 AM.
