Vestel, N.Y. – The University of Maine baseball program won their sixth-straight weekend with the victory over Binghamton on Sunday afternoon.
First Pitch – 11 AM – 7-3 Maine
Scoring Plays:
Juju Stevens got the Black Bears on the board in the top of the first as he hit a sac fly to right field, scoring
Nic Pepe (2B/WP).
Hunter St. Denis hit his eighth home run of the season and third of the series in the third inning, this one being a two-run shot to left field.
Troy Carpenter (BB) scored on the play.
Chris Bear added a third run in the third inning as he hit an RBI single to right field, scoring
Shane Andrus (BB).
Albert De La Rosa drove in his fourth and fifth runs of the weekend in the fourth inning as he hit a two-run single to center field, scoring both St. Denis (1B) and
Brody Rasmussen (1B).
Bear drove in his second run of the day to cap off the fourth inning with a sac fly to center field, scoring Andrus (1B).
Pitching Breakdown:
Vaun Larisa (3-3) turned in his third-straight quality start as he went six innings, allowing just one run on three hits, three walks and striking out three.
Brennan Rumpf pitched two innings in relief, allowing two runs on two hits, two walks and a strikeout.
Sebastian Holt threw the final frame for Maine, allowing a hit and striking out one.
Next Time Out:
The Black Bears (17-27) return to Orono for the final seven games of the regular season, starting with a three-game series against UMass Lowell beginning on Friday, May 8. First pitch is scheduled for 4 PM.
