Black Bears fall to Bulldogs in Sunday finale

Kaelyn Larkin had another multi-hit game.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The University of Maine softball team fell to the Bryant Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon at Conaty Park.

How it Happened
  • Bryant took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice bunt and then added two runs in the bottom of the fourth with a two RBI single through the right side.
  • In the top of the fifth, the Black Bears finally responded, putting up four runs in the frame … Kaelyn Larkin's two-RBI double was followed by a Neve Adams bunt RBI single before Eviana Robles had a two-RBI single to left field.
  • The Bulldogs responded with six runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 9-5 lead into the top of the seventh and hold the Black Bears off the board.
Game Notes
  • Kaelyn Larkin led Maine with a 2-for-4 day at the plate, earning her ninth multi-hit game of the year … she had two RBI, one run scored and one double.
  • Eviana Robles was 1-for-3 with two RBI.
  • Seven different Black Bears had at least one hit in the game.
