Orono, Maine – The University of Maine baseball program took the second game of the weekend series against UMBC on Saturday afternoon.
First Pitch – 1 PM – 8-5 UMBC
Scoring Plays:
Jack Quigley got the Black Bears on the board in the second inning on an RBI single up the middle, bringing home
Brody Rasmussen (1B/SB).
Nic Pepe brought in the second run of the inning on a sac fly to left field, scoring
Jack Quigley (1B/SB).
Rasmussen drove in
Juju Stevens (1B) on a sac fly to the right fielder to give Maine a 3-2 lead.
Troy Carpenter brought in a run in the fourth inning on a sac fly to right field, scoring
Chris Bear (E6/SB).
Rasmussen brought home another pair of runs in the sixth inning as he brought home
Quinn Murphy (1B) and Carpenter (E9).
Stevens hit a solo shot to left field to cap off the scoring for Maine on the afternoon, his 11
th home run of the season.
Pitching Breakdown:
Gianni Gambardella (5-4) turned in a quality start as he allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits, a walk and two strikeouts.
Brennan Rumpf went 2 and 1/3 innings in relief as he allowed two runs on two hits, two walks and three strikeouts.
Sebastian Holt (5) picked up the save as he recorded the final two outs of the contest, striking out one batter.

The Black Bears (13-25) wrap up their weekend against UMBC on Sunday, April 26. First pitch is scheduled for Noon and it will be baseball BINGO! at Mahaney Diamond.
