Orono, Maine – The University of Maine baseball program fell in a close contest against UMBC on Friday afternoon.
First Pitch – 3 PM – 3-2 UMBC
Scoring Plays:
Shane Andrus got the Black Bears on the board in the fifth inning as he hit a solo home run to left field, his fourth home run of the season.
Andrus brought in his second run of the game on a sac fly to left field in the ninth inning, scoring Brody Rasmussen (2B).
Pitching Breakdown:
Jason Krieger (2-5) went five innings in the start, allowing three runs on six hits, four walks and five strikeouts.
Pierce Friedman went four innings in relief allowing no runs on a hit, two walks and a strikeout.
Next Time Out:
The Black Bears (12-25) host UMBC for the second game of the series on Saturday, April 25. First pitch is scheduled 1 PM and it will be Youth Day at Mahaney Diamond.
