Orono, Maine --
Ruby Krasnow of the University of Maine Indoor Track and Field program was named the 2025-26 America East Female Indoor Track and Field winter scholar-athlete, the conference announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Krasnow, a graduate student from Huntsville, Alabama, is continuing her work towards her PhD in Marine Biology with a 4.0 GPA in both undergraduate and graduate schools. Krasnow was named the Elite 18 Award recipient at both the Cross Country and Indoor Track Championships this season. Competitively, Krasnow captured five individual 1st place finishes throughout the Indoor Track and Field season. Krasnow also won the America East 3000m Championship along with the IC4A/ECAC 5000m Championship, while also finishing second in the America East 5000m race. Krasnow was named to the America East All Academic team back on March 25.Â
Krasnow is only the second Maine Black Bear to be named the America East Indoor Track and Field Female winter scholar-athlete joining Viktoriya Rybalko (2003) with the honor.
Nominees were put forward by their institution, which could nominate up to one student-athlete per sport, then voted upon by the conference's Student-Athlete Engagement committee. Each America East Scholar-Athlete was a projected starter or prominent reserve and carries a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50.
Sport Scholar-Athletes are automatically eligible for the America East Female or Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards, which will be announced in July.
Krasnow and the Black Bears will be in action on April 17 and April 18 as they take on the Sean Collier Invite and the Jim Kavanagh Legacy Invitational.
