Orono, Maine -- Ruby Krasnow of the University of Maine track and field program was named the America East Female Track Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Krasnow, this past weekend set a new 5k school record with a time of 15:59.16 winning the event by over 15 seconds at the Sean Collier Invitational. Krasnow broke the record set by Corey Conner in 2012 when she set the record with a time of 15:59.66. Krasnow now holds the top overall women's 5k time in the America East Conference this season and now is a top 40 performance in the United States East Region. This is Krasnow's first America East weekly award for the Outdoor Season.

Krasnow and the Black Bears are back in action starting Thursday April 23rd in Philadelphia for the Penn Relays.
