Black Bears compete in Jim Kavanagh Legacy Invitational

Worcester, Massachusetts – The University of Maine track and field program competed in the Jim Kavanagh Legacy Invitational hosted by Holy Cross on Saturday April 18th. The Black Bears finished in 5th place with a total of 29 points.

Results:
 
The team of Addison Nelson, Abby Rodriquenz, Kara Tschida, and Meredith Walters finished 7th in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:08.69 and the team of Maddie Cyr, Cassidy Novicka, Catherine Primavera and Bayleigh Shanahan finished 8thwith a time of 4:14.28.
 
In the 100m, Bayleigh Shanahan finished 5th overall with a time of 12.62, Maddie Chaput finished 11th overall with a time of 12.93 and Callie Tennett finished 13th overall with a time of 13.19.
 
In the 200m, Catherine Primavera finished 10th overall with a time of 26.36, Bayleigh Shanahan finished 12th overall with a time of 26.46 and Maddie Cyr finished 13th overall with a time of 26.62.
 
In the 400m, Maddie Cyr finished 5th overall with a time of 59.90, Catherine Primavera finished 6th overall with a time of 1:00.52 and Cassidy Novicka finished 8th overall with a time of 1:00.82.
 
In the 800m, Meredith Walters finished 5th overall with a time of 2:14.38, Toni Vaillancourt finished 13th overall with a time of 2:19.03 and Addison Nelson finished 17th overall with a time of 2:20.36.
 
In the 5000m, Natalie Johnson finished 2nd overall with a time of 17:55.17, Grace Lambert would finish 5th overall with a time of 18:13.98.
 
In the Long Jump, Saphryn Humason finished 6th overall with a distance of 5.05m (16' 7") and Maddie Chaput finished 8th overall with a distance of 5.03m (16' 6").
 
Athena Cusson was the only Maine athlete to compete in the Shot Put, finishing 9th overall with a distance of 9.59m (31' 5.75").
 
In the Discus, Sabine Sites finished 7th overall with a distance of 37.68m (123' 7") and Riley Gavigan finished 11thoverall with a distance of 30.56m (100' 3").

In the Hammer Throw, Ava Zollars finished 4th overall with a distance of 44.56m (146' 2"), Sabine Sites finished 6thoverall with a distance of 41.77m (137') and Riley Gavigan finished 11th overall with a distance of 34.37m (112' 9").
 
Ava Zollars was the only Maine athlete to compete in the Javelin, finishing 7th overall with a distance of 24.59m (80' 8").

The Black Bears are back in action starting on Thursday April 23rd as they travel to Philadelphia to take on the Penn Relays.
