Orono, Maine -- Charlie Collins of the University of Maine track and field program has been tabbed the America East Male Track Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.

Charlie Collins had a strong performance in the 3000 Steeplechase at the Providence Friar Invitational on Friday April 10. Collins finished the event with a third place finish with a time of 8:57.61, as Collins now sits atop of the America East Conference in the 3000 Steeplechase.

This is Collins' first Outdoor Track and Field weekly award of the season and his first weekly award since December 16 where he also captured a Track Athlete of the Week award.

Collins and the Black Bears return to action on Friday April 17 and Saturday April 18 as they compete in the Sean Collier Invitational hosted by MIT and the Jim Kavanagh Legacy Invitational hosted by Holy Cross.
