Orono, Maine -- The University fo Maine track and field programs are back in action this weekend as they take on the Friar Invitational hosted by Providence College on Friday April 10 and the UMass Commonwealth Invitational on Saturday April 11.

Charlie Collins will be back in action on Friday at the Friar Invitational as he will be competing in the 3000m Steeple. Last time out, Collins competed in the 3000 Steeple at the Raleigh Relays in late March where he finished 51st overall with a time of 9:13.64. Last year at the Friar Invitational, Collins finished 8th overall in the 5000m with a time of 14:24.18.
Ryan O'Connor will also be in action on Friday as she will be competing in the 5000m run. This will be O'Connor's first 5000m event of the outdoor season as last weekend at the UMaine Spring Opener, she captured a 1st place finish in the 3000m with a time of 10:03.50.
Gavin McGarrity will be back in action on Saturday at the UMass Commonwealth Invitational in the Hammer Throw event after setting the Maine program record at the UMaine Spring Opener with a distance of 61.13m (200' 7").
Ava Zollars will be in action on Saturday at the UMass Commonwealth Invitational as she will be competing in both the Hammer Throw and the Javelin. Zollars had a successful outdoor season debut at the UMaine Spring Opener as she finished 1st in the Hammer Throw with a distance of 47.29m (155' 2") and finished 7th in the Javelin with a distance of 23.17m (76').
