EASTON, Mass. – The University of Maine softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Stonehill at Fr. Gartland Field on Wednesday afternoon.
 
After falling in the first game, the Black Bears bounced back for a win in the second game.
 
Game 28
Score: Stonehill 7, Maine 3

How it Happened

• Stonehill took a 2-0 lead in the home half of the first with a pair of RBI singles … Maine responded with one run in the top of the second, with Neve Adams driving in Keira Inman.
• The Skyhawks pushed the lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the second.
• Each team scored one run in the fifth … Kaelyn Larkin singled through the left side to bring in one run and Stonehill used a two-RBI double to make it a 6-2 game.
• Maine added one run in the top of the sixth, with Adams driving in her second of the game with a sacrifice fly, and Stonehill again answered with one run of its own … the Skyhawks would take the 7-3 win.

Game Notes

• Alysen Rieth started, throwing 2.0 innings … Kyla Brogan tossed 3.0 innings in relief while Ava Zettlemoyer threw 1.0 innings of relief.
• Kaelyn Larkin and Madison Hand recorded hits for Maine.
• Keira Inman earned two walks, stole two bases and scored two runs.
• Neve Adams had two RBI.

How it Happened

• Maine took a lead in the top of the first on a two-run home run by Madison Hand … Stonehill pushed one run across to make it 2-1 game after one inning.
• A Morgan Pool sacrifice fly made it 3-1 Black Bears in the second … the Skyhawks responded with three runs in the bottom half of the third to go up, 4-3.
• In the top of the fourth, Keira Inman's solo shot to right center tied the game … Maine then added three runs in the fifth on a Kaelyn Larkin RBI double and a two-RBI single from Madison Hand.
• Stonehill would get one run back on a solo home run in the sixth but Maine held on for the 7-5 win.

Game Notes

• Hannah Hipwell started in the circle, throwing 2.1 innings … Ava Zettlemoyer threw 2.2 innings in relief while Alysen Rieth tossed 2.0 innings of relief and picked up her second save of the season.
• Kaelyn Larkin and Madison Hand both went 2-for-3 … Hand had four RBI and a home run while Larkin had one RBI, two runs scored and a double.
• Keira Inman and Maggie Helms were 1-for-3 while Francesca Guerrera and Annika Shearer were 1-for-4.
