Charlotte, N.C. – The University of Maine baseball program was defeated by Charlotte on Wednesday evening, 9-4.

Scoring Plays:
Maine got on the board in the top of the seventh inning as Quinn Murphy (BB) scored on an error by the third basemen.

Shane Andrus (1B) scored the second run of the frame on a groundout.

Hunter St. Denis capped off the four-run inning with a two-run single to left field, scoring Nolan DeAndrade (HBP) and Juju Stevens (E5).

Pitching Breakdown:
Erik Swenson got the start, his first collegiate start and appearance of his career, where he went one and 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on no hits and five walks.

Pierce Friedman took over in the second frame, throwing one and 1/3 innings, allowing just one hit, no runs and striking out one.

Marshall Loch threw two frames, allowing three hits, four runs, two walks and striking out one batter.

Rex Hauser pitched the sixth frame for Maine, allowing two runs on three hits.

Sebastian Holt came on in the seventh frame and allowed one run on two hits and one strikeout in his one inning of work.

Jack Donlin pitched the final frame for Maine, allowing no runs on a hit, a hit batter and striking out two.

The Black Bears head to Winthrop for a three-game series beginning on Friday, Feb. 27. First pitch is scheduled for Noon.
