DELAND, Fla. – The University of Maine softball team closed out the Hatter Classic on Sunday morning, falling to Stetson at Patricia Wilson Field.

How it Happened

• The teams played a scoreless first three innings before Maine took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth.
• Madison Hand's double put her in scoring position and the very next batter, Eviana Robles drove in the first run … three batters later, Robles came home on a wild pitch.
• The Hatters pulled one run back in the home half of the fourth on an RBI double to shallow center.
• Stetson then erupted for six runs on seven hits in the fifth inning for a 7-2 lead through five ... the Hatters pushed two more across in the sixth for the 9-2 final.

Game Notes

• Annika Shearer went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Maine with two hits.
• Francesca Guerrera was 1-for-3 with a double while Madison Hand was 1-for-2 with a double and one run scored.
• Eviana Robles had one hit, one RBI and one run scored while Keira Inman and Neve Adams also registered hits.
