Orono, Maine – The University of Maine basketball team was defeated by NJIT on Saturday afternoon, 67-58.

After falling behind early by as many as eight points, the Black Bears battled back to tie up the contest at 23-23 with a little under eight minutes to go in the first half.

The Black Bears were able to end the first half with back-to-back three-pointers from
Logan Carey to take a four-point lead into the break at 35-31.

Carey had 17 points at halftime to lead all scorers.

NJIT retook the lead a little over four minutes into the second half and never relinquished it for the rest of the game, coming away with the victory at 67-58.

Notes:
- Carey finished with a team-high 20 points, his third 20+ point game and second in his last five games.
- Ace Flagg had 11 points, six rebounds and five steals.
- Maine forced 15 turnovers and held NJIT to just 27% shooting from behind-the-arc.

The Black Bears (6-21) head on the road for their next three games, starting with a trip to New Hampshire on Saturday, Feb. 21. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 PM.
