Orono, Maine -- Former UMaine men's basketball player and current member of the Capital City Go-Go will be competing for a spot on an NBA roster this summer as he is set to join the Minnesota Timberwolves for the NBA Summer League.
Mantis, a 2025 graduate of the University of Maine, spent one season with the Black Bears, helping them make their first America East Title Appearance since the 2004-05 season during the 2024-25 season. He averaged 8.1 PPG on 44.9/43.6/91.7 shooting splits. He knocked down 72 three-pointers, the 11th most in a single season in program history.
Mantis is the first UMaine men's basketball player to compete in the NBA Summer League, which first started taking place on July 2, 2004.
Last season with Capital City, he averaged 8.4 PPG across 35 games played, including 13 starts. He shot 45.7% from the field and 42.8% from behind-the-arc, knocking down more than two three-pointers a game.
The NBA Summer League will begin on July 3, 2026 with the Minnesota Timberwolves first game scheduled for Thursday, July 9 against the New Orleans Pelicans. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 3:30 PM (EST).
