ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine student-athletes posted impressive marks for the 2025 fall semester as 15 of the 17 varsity programs achieved cumulative team grade point averages of 3.3 or better for the 2025 fall term, nine of which posted marks of 3.50 or greater.
Overall, the Black Bears posted a 3.42 department GPA for the fall term.
The field hockey team led all programs with a department high 3.88 GPA for the term, followed by women's basketball (3.76), women's cross country (3.71), and softball (3.71).
Additionally, women's soccer (3.69), women's outdoor track & field (3.62), women's indoor track & field (3.62), women's swimming & diving (3.56), and men's cross country (3.56) each bested the 3.5 mark.
Softball and men's outdoor track & field (3.36) posted their highest ever fall GPAs (since records began in 1988).
Individually, 344 out of the total 437 student-athletes qualified as UMaine scholar-athletes with GPAs of 3.0 or better in the term. Out of the 344, 168 qualified as UMaine Presidential Scholar-Athletes with a 3.75 or better GPA.
Additionally, 58 individual student-athletes achieved perfect 4.00 GPAs for the fall term.
