Orono, Maine – The University of Maine basketball team won their second-straight conference game with a victory over Binghamton on Saturday afternoon, 79-63.
Maine jumped out to an early double-digit lead at 17-6 as Maine started 7-for-10 from the field.
Binghamton was able to cut into the Maine lead as it stood at only one point heading into halftime, 37-36 in favor of the Black Bears.
Ryan Mabrey led the way for the Black Bears as he had 10 points on 4-for-5 shooting from the field.
Mekhi Gray (8),
Logan Carey (6) and
Ace Flagg (6) rounded out the top scorers for Maine in the first half.
The Black Bears forced nine turnovers while only committing four.
Maine slowly built their lead back up in the second half as they retook a double-digit advantage at 58-46 with 11 minutes to go in the contest.
The Black Bear maintained their double-digit lead, coming away with the victory, 79-63.
Notes:
- Five different Black Bears scored double-digits on the afternoon, led by a career-high 18 points from Ryan Mabrey and 19 points from Logan Carey.
- Maine had a season-high 23 assists on 29 made field goals.
- The Black Bears forced 16 turnovers.
- Maine is 3-0 on the season when scoring 70 or more points.
The Black Bears (5-17) head on the road for their next matchup as they will take on the UMass Lowell River Hawks on Saturday, Jan. 31. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 PM.
