ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine field hockey team dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to visiting Northeastern on Friday afternoon.
Olivia Geniti tallied Maine's lone goal of the contest. Rozárie Mrázová made five saves in the cage for the Black Bears while
Jayde Temby added a save.
Northeastern held a slight, 9-6 advantage in shots on the cage while Maine posted a commanding 8-3 edge in penalty corner opportunities.Â
The Huskies jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Camille Armaganian's unassisted goal, 16:51 into the first half.
Geniti tied the game at 1-1 with her fourth goal of the season.
Taylor Katsube settled the ball at the top of the circle before sending it into the center of the attacking zone to Geniti. Geniti's backhand slipped past Northeastern keeper Arabe Loveridge with 4:18 left in the first half.
After a scoreless third and fourth quarter, the game would enter overtime where Anna-Kate Domingue won it for Northeastern at the 3:15 mark of the extra frame.
Maine returns to action on Friday, Sept. 26 when it travels to take on Monmouth at 3 p.m.
