ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine field hockey team jumped out to a two goal lead on Indiana but was unable to hold on, falling to the Hoosiers by a final of 4-3 on Monday afternoon.
Olivia Geniti registered two goals on the day while
Saylor Kuefler added a goal and an assist.
Geniti opened the scoring for Maine in the 11th minute to give Maine a 1-0 lead. Just under three minutes later, Kuefler added a goal to put Maine on top by a pair late in the first quarter.
Indiana responded with four unanswered goals, starting when Celia Arroyo Cabezudo converted on a penalty stroke in the 15th minute to cut Maine's lead to one.
Cabezudo would score the only goal of the second quarter just under a minute into the stanza to send the game into the half tied at 2-2.
After a scoreless third quarter, Indiana would open the scoring in the fourth quarter as Mijntje Hagen and Molly Stutte would give Indiana a 4-2 lead with ten minutes to play in the contest.
Geniti would score her second goal of the contest with just over five minutes to play in the game. However, Maine was unable to convert on chances down the stretch as Indiana escaped with a 4-3 victory.

- Rozárie Mrázová made eight saves in the cage for the second consecutive game.Â
- For Geniti, the two goal performance marked her second multi-goal game and first since also tallying a pair last year (9/13/24) at Boston College.
Next time out: Maine will take on Quinnipiac at the Maine Field Hockey Complex on Friday afternoon with a start time of 3 p.m.
