ORONO, Maine – Emma Nicholson scored her first career goal but the University of Maine women's soccer team fell to Patriot League favorite Boston University, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon at Mahaney Diamond.
 
Giulianna Gianino scored twice for the Terriers in the first half for a 2-0 lead at the break. BU would add a third goal early in the second half before Maine started returning fire. Nicholson's 76th-minute strike put Maine on the board and then the Black Bears continued to threaten – firing a shot on goal in the final seconds – but the Terriers would hang on for the 3-1 win.
