Smithfield, RI – The University of Maine baseball team was defeated by Bryant University on Friday afternoon.
Black Bear Scoring Breakdown:
Maine got on the board in the seventh inning as
Damon Gaither hit his fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot to left field.
Aidan Bardi (BB) scored on the play.
Bardi would hit his first collegiate home run to left field in the eighth inning to put the Black Bears ahead, capping off the scoring for Maine.
Black Bear Pitchers:
Colin Fitzgerald (5-5) would get the start for the Black Bears throwing 7 and 1/3 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 7 hits while walking 3 and striking out 5.
Sebastian Holt pitched in relief, throwing 2/3 of an inning, allowing 1 run on 2 hits. He also struck out 1.
Bryant Recap:
Scored one run in the third, fifth and three in the eighth.
