Smithfield, RI – The University of Maine baseball team was defeated by Bryant University in extra innings on Saturday afternoon.

Black Bear Scoring Breakdown:
Maine opened the scoring as Evan Menzel reached on a throwing error in the top of the first inning. Brody Rasmussen (BB) scored on the play.

Aidan Bardi hit a double to left center in the first inning to give the Black Bears a 2-0 lead. Menzel (ROE) would score on the play.

Chris Bear would hit a sacrifice fly to right field in the top of the second to tie the game up at 3. Will Burns (HBP) would score on the play.

Dean O'Neill would hit his seventh home run of the season to left center in the top of the third inning to tie the game.

Rasmussen would hit his seventh home run of the season to left center in the top of the fifth to tie the game.

Menzel would hit his third home run of the season to center field to give the Black Bears the lead in the top of the 7^th. Bear (BB) would score on the play.

Rasmussen would double to center field in the top of the 11^th inning to cap off the scoring for Maine.

Black Bear Pitchers:
Caleb Leys would get the start for the Black Bears. He pitched 5 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 5 runs total while walking 3, striking out 5 and allowing 5 hits.

Tommy Martin was the first out of the bullpen, pitching 4 innings in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 5.

Sebastian Holt (2-2) pitched 1 and 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits. He struck out 2.

Bryant Recap:
Scored three in the first, one in the second, third, sixth, seventh and two in the eleventh.

Liam Chamberlain (2-0) picked up the win on the mound.
