Orono, ME – The University of Maine baseball team took down Binghamton on Saturday night.
Black Bear Scoring Breakdown:
Aidan Bardi got the Black Bears on the board first with an RBI single to right field, scoring
Chris Bear (1B – SB).
Maine plated two runs in the second inning, one an RBI single from
Brody Rasmussen to score Bear (BB – SB) and one on an RBI single by
Drew Reynolds to score Rasmussen (1B – WP).
A bases-loaded walk by Bear in the third to score
Evan Menzel (BB – SB) set up a four-run inning for Maine as Rasmussen hit a three-run double to left center. Bardi (BB),
Damon Gaither (1B) and Bear (BB) all scored on the play.
Dean O'Neill plated the final run of the night for Maine on a sac-bunt to score Menzel (BB) in the fourth inning.
Black Bear Pitchers:
Caleb Leys went 1 inning, setting down all three batters he faced before leaving with an injury.
Tommy Martin (1-1) went 4 and 1/3 innings of relief as he allowed 6 runs on 5 hits, 4 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Jack Donlin went 2/3 of an inning, retiring both batters he faced.
Jason Libby (1) picked up his first save of the season as he went 3 innings, allowing no runs on 1 hit, 3 walks and 2 strikeouts.
Binghamton Recap:
Binghamton scored three runs in the third, two in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Ryan Packard (3-5) took the loss.
