Orono, ME – The University of Maine baseball team split a doubleheader with NJIT on Friday afternoon.
GAME ONE (7-Inn.):

Myles Sargent made it seven-straight games with an RBI as he hit a single to center field, scoring
Evan Menzel (2B).
Black Bear Pitchers:
Caleb Leys (5-1) went the distance as he threw a complete game shutout, allowing 5 hits, 2 walks and striking out 5.

Damon Gaither got Maine on the board in the fourth inning as he hit a sac-fly to center field, scoring
Dean O'Neill (1B).
Zach Martin hit his fifth home run of the season in the seventh inning, a solo shot to right field.
Maine put up four runs in the eighth inning, one by a Sargent single to left field, scoring Menzel (BB) and the other three coming on a three-run home run by Gaither, his fourth of the season.
Aidan Bardi (1B) and Sargent (1B) scored on the play.
Black Bear Pitchers:
Colin Fitzgerald (5-4) went 4 innings in the start, allowing 8 runs (7 earned) on 9 hits, 3 walks and 8 strikeouts.
Jason Libby took on the majority of the relief work as he allowed just 1 run in 4 and 1/3 innings of work, allowing 4 hits and striking out 2.
Sebastian Holt went 2/3 of an inning in relief, allowing 1 run on 2 hits and 1 strikeout.
NJIT Recap:
The Highlanders scored three runs in the first, five in the second and two in the ninth.
Nate DeSchryver (2-3) picked up the win while Colin Kidd (2) grabbed the save.
