Maine falls in America East action at UAlbany

Alysen Rieth recorded her 100th strikeout of the season in Game One.
ALBANY, N.Y. – The University of Albany swept a doubleheader against the University of Maine on Saturday afternoon at UAlbany Field.

How it Happened
- Both teams left runners on base over two scoreless innings to open the game but it would be UAlbany that capitalized first in the bottom of the third with a three-run frame.
- Maine left one runner on base in the fourth … the Black Bears loaded the bases in the fifth frame and had runners in scoring position in the sixth but couldn't push anything across.
- In the bottom of the sixth, UAlbany scored a run on an infield ball and then used a three-run home run to make it 7-0.
- Back-to-back doubles from Bailey Snowberger and Gabby Papushka gave Maine two runs in the top of the seventh but UAlbany closed the game out for the 7-2 win.
- Alysen Rieth started in the circle and threw 3.0 innings … Ava Zettlemoyer went 3.0 innings in relief.
- Rieth recorded her 100th strikeout of the season in the bottom of the first … she is the first Maine pitcher to reach 100 strikeouts in a season since Molly Flowers in 2016 (144).
- Gabby Papushka was 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI … Bailey Snowberger was 1-for-3 with one RBI and one double.
- Eviana Robles (1-for-2), Kyrah Haba-Dailey (1-for-3) and Abby Rhee (1-for-4) also had hits for Maine.
- Maine's four doubles marked a single-game high on the season ... it marks the first time Maine has had at least four doubles in a game since May 10, 2023 (5).

- The Great Danes took a 1-0 lead in the home half of the first on an RBI double to right field.
- In the top of the fourth, Maine took a 2-1 lead … Keira Inman double to score Gabby Papushka and then Inman scored from second on a Kyrah Haba-Dailey single to second.
- The Black Bears made it 3-1 in the top of fifth when Bailey Snowberger drove in Abby Rhee.
- UAlbany used a two-RBI double in the bottom of the fifth to even the score at 3-3.
- After Maine loaded the bases in the top of the sixth inning but couldn't retake the lead, the Great Danes used a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth to take a 5-3 lead that would hold for the final score.
- Madison Simmerman started, going 4.1 innings … Alysen Rieth came in and threw 1.2 in relief.
- Seven total Black Bears had a hit in the game.
- Keira Inman was 1-for-3 with a double, one RBI and one run scored.
- Bailey Snowberger was 1-for-4 with an RBI while Kyrah Haba-Dailey was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
- Snowberger has now reached base safely in nine consecutive games while Abby Rhee – who was hit by a pitch twice – has done it in eight straight.
