ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine men's hockey team will head into the 2025 NCAA Tournament as the No. 3 overall seed, the selection committee announced on Sunday afternoon.

The Black Bears will be the No. 1 seed in the Allentown Regional and will face Penn State at 8:30 p.m.
 on Friday, March 28 at the PPL Center, with the game airing live on ESPN 2. The winner of the Maine-Penn State game will face the winner of UConn-Quinnipiac matchup in the regional final at either 4:30/7:00 p.m on Sunday, March 30.

Maine earned one of six automatic bids to the tournament when it won the program's sixth Hockey East Tournament title on Friday night with a 5-2 victory over UConn. The Black Bears are currently 24-7-6 on the season and were ranked fourth in the most recent national polls.
The four regional winners will move on to the Frozen Four, where the semifinals will be held on April 10, followed by the national title game on April 12Â at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Mo.

This is the 20th NCAA Tournament for the Black Bears. Maine has won two national titles, doing it in 1993 and 1999, and has played in 11 Frozen Fours. The Black Bears are 30-21 all-time in the NCAA Tournament.
