Durham, NH – The University of Maine men's basketball team took down the Wildcats of UNH to sweep the Buffalo Wild Wings Border Battle on the regular season.

Both sides were locked within one bucket of each other throughout almost the entirety of the first half as the Black Bears made it a four-point advantage with 3:13 remaining.

The Black Bears continued their momentum swing as they took an 11-2 run into halftime, building their lead up to 38-30.

Three different Black Bears had 8 points at the break as
Kellen Tynes, Lopez and
Quion Burns all hit that mark. Burns and Tynes both had 4 rebounds while Burns added on a pair of blocks.

The Black Bears shot 50% from behind-the-arc in the first half, knocking down 7-of-14 shots.

UNH got the score back to three early in the second half before the Black Bears pushed the lead out to 11 points with 6:03 remaining in the contest.

The Wildcats got it down to four points before Tynes hit a three-pointer and was fouled with 33 seconds to go in the contest to put the Black Bears up for good.

Maine took down UNH by a final score of 73-66.

Tynes ended with a team-high 16 points on the night. He added in 7 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal.

Burns ended one rebound shy of a double-double as he had 13 points and 9 rebounds, along with 4 assists 2 steals and 2 blocks.

Lopez finished with 15 points on 50% shooting from both the field and from three-point range.

The Black Bears will clinch their first home playoff game since 1995 with their next win or either a UAlbany loss or Binghamton loss on Saturday.

Maine (17-12, 9-5 AE) returns to Orono for Senior Day on Saturday, Mar. 1 as they host the Bryant Bulldogs. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 PM and the Senior Day ceremony will begin at 1:40.
