Preview: Maine preps for quarterfinal game at Boston College

ORONO, Maine - The Maine women's ice hockey team wrapped up the regular season locking in the #6 seed and a 10-14-3 conference record, after the win and tie against Holy Cross this past weekend. Maine will face the #3 seed Boston College on Saturday, March 1 at Conte Forum in the Hockey East Quarterfinals. Game time is set for 4:30 pm and will air on ESPN+ and NESN+.

Ending the season as the #6 seed earned Maine a bye to the Quarterfinals, while seeds #7-10 will play in the Opening Round on Wednesday, Feb 26.

  • Maine has gained momentum in the second half of the season, picking up at least one conference point in the last 14 of 16 games.
  • Kiia Lahtinen has earned four wins in five starts in February, including two shutouts and two Hockey East weekly awards. Her .933 save percentage is fifth overall among goaltenders in Hockey East play.

  • Most recently, the Eagles won (2-0) and tied (1-1) against New Hampshire this past weekend.
  • Kate Ham, Alana Devlin, and Julia Pellerin were the goal scorers, while goaltender Grace Campbell played in goal both days, making 53 saves on the weekend, allowing one goal against.

Blast from the Past:

  • In 2021-22, when our current senior class were freshmen, Maine lost to Boston College in all three matchups during the regular season, before defeating them in the Quarterfinal round of playoffs, 2-1. 
  • Then freshmen, Alyssa Wruble (1g) and Mira Seregely(1a) each tallied a point in the playoff victory.
