Caroline Dotsey's layup with 2.5 seconds left in regulation completed a 12-point, fourth quarter comeback victory over Binghamton for the University of Maine women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon as the Black Bears earned a 54-53 win on Senior Day.
Maine, which trailed 46-34 with 7:14 remaining in the game, closed the contest on a 20-7 run to earn its eight America East win of the season.
Sera Hodgson led three Maine double-digit scorers with a team-high 12 points on four triples.
Asta Blauenfeldt chipped in 11 points while
Caroline Bornemann added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Olivia Rockwood posted nine points and a career-high nine rebounds in the win.
The Black Bears, who finished the game 18-of-50 (36.0) from the floor with 12 triples, shot 7-of-15 (46.7) with four threes in the fourth quarter. Maine outscored the Bearcats 20-10 in the final frame.
Maine held a 34-26 edge on the boards and improve to 20-1 in its last 21 home conference games. The victory was also

Maine, which trailed 17-11 after one quarter, outscored Binghamton 14-9 in the second quarter to draw within one at the half.
Leading by a pair with 7:38 left in the third quarter, the Bearcats staged a 6-0 run to push their lead out to 39-31 with 4:39 remaining in the third.
A triple by Blauenfeldt ended the run but Binghamton would net the final four points of the quarter and carry a 43-34 edge into the fourth.
Binghamton opened the fourth with a three to take its largest lead of the afternoon, 46-34.
Bornemann began the comeback for Maine as she worked inside for two, starting a 14-0 run.
Triples from Blauenfeldt and Rockwood followed as Maine found itself trailing by just four.Â
Hodgson kept the three-point trend going as her three with 1:53 left in regulation cut the deficit to just one before another three from Rockwood, this one coming off a turnover, regained the lead for Maine at 50-48.
Binghamton answered with a 5-0 run to retake the lead, 53-50, with 19-seconds on the clock.
Two free throws by Blauenfeldt drew Maine within a point with nine seconds left before Maine fouled Binghamton, sending the Bearcats to the free throw line with six seconds remaining.
Binghamton would miss both of its free throws as
Paula Gallego grabbed the rebound and quickly sent the ball up the court to Dotsey who converted the layup with 2.5 on the clock to put Maine on top by one.
A last second shot by the Bearcats would fall short as Maine captured the victory, 54-53.
The Black Bears are back in action on Thursday, Feb. 27 when they host New Hampshire in the Border Battle, presented by Buffalo Wild Wings, at 6 p.m.
