MOBILE, Ala. – The University of Maine softball team dropped two games on day two of the Mardi Gras Classic, falling to Lipscomb and Notre Dame at Jaguar Field.

How it Happened

• Lipscomb jumped out to a 4-0 lead with two outs in the top of the first … after a double steal brought home the first run, a pair of singles and a double made it 4-0.
• Maine threatened in the bottom of the second with both Francesca Guerrera and Eviana Robles knocking singles through the left side but both got left on bae.
• After four scoreless innings, the Bison pushed a fifth run across after capitalizing on an error.
• Lexi Corcoran had a pinch-hit single for Maine in the bottom of the seventh and advanced on a Kyli Hernandez walk but the Bison closed out the game for the 5-0 final.

Game Notes

• Madison Simmerman started and threw all 7.0 innings, giving up four earned runs while walking two batters.
• Immy Gie, Francesca Guerrera and Eviana Robles all went 1-for-3 at the plate … Lexi Corcoran went 1-for-1 in a pinch hit appearance.

Score: Notre Dame 8, Maine 0

How it Happened

• After a scoreless first inning, the Fighting Irish scored two runs on a single to left field in the bottom of the second.
• Maine then held the Fighting Irish at bay until the bottom of the fifth when they pushed one more run across for a 3-0 lead after five.
• The Fighting Rish then drove in five runs in the bottom of the sixth for the 8-0 final.

Game Notes

• Alysen Rieth started, throwing all 5.1 innings.
