BURLINGTON, Vt. --
Caroline Bornemann led Maine with seven points and 11 rebounds in a 65-34 loss at Vermont on Saturday afternoon. The loss slips Maine to 12-13, 7-5 in America East play while Vermont improves to 15-11, 10-2.
The loss snaps Maine's four game win streak against the Catamounts.
Maine finished the outing 12-of-46 from the floor while Vermont shot 30-of-50 in the win.
Sera Hodgson and
Jaycie Christopher each added six points for the Black Bears.
Vermont opened the game with a 12-2 run and led, 21-2, after the first before carrying a 31-8 lead into the break.
Maine regrouped and found some energy coming out of the half as a 5-0 run, keyed by a triple from Hodgson and a pair of free throws by Bornemann, to close the gap to 35-13.
However, it would be as close as Maine would get as the Catamounts captured the win by a final of 65-34.
Maine returns home on Thursday, Feb. 20 to host UAlbany at 6 p.m.
