Seregély scored late in the second period to give Maine the lead.
Ava Stevenson and
Kendall Sundby earned assists.
Early in the final period, Merrimack found the back of the net to tie up the game. The overtime period went scoreless before Merrimack won the shooutout to earn the extra point.
Kiia Lahtinen made 21 saves on 22 shots faced for the Black Bears, as the team outshot Merrimack 33 to 22.
Maine won a team high of 32-of-49 faceoffs, for 65%.
Maine and Merrimack face off on Saturday for the series finale at 2:00 pm at Lawler Rink.
