Philadelphia, PA – The University of Maine basketball team was defeated by Drexel on Sunday afternoon, 74-56.
The Black Bears jumped out to an early 7-2 lead as Mabrey scored five of the first nine points in the game.
Drexel responded to the early surge by the Black Bears by going on an 11-1 run to take a four-point lead with just over 10 minutes to go in the first half.
Drexel was able to hold onto the lead as they took a nine-point advantage into halftime at 37-28.
Logan Carey had eight points on 4-for-5 shooting from the field while Mabrey had seven points.
Maine forced six turnovers in the first half while shooting 50% from the field.
Drexel opened up the second half on a 9-2 run and were able to maintain their double-digit advantage, coming away with the victory, 74-56.
Notes:
- Mekhi Gray led the way with 12 points on 6-for-7 shooting.
- Stelle had six points, five rebounds, two blocks and two assists.
- Carey and Mabrey both had three steals. Carey had 10 points while Mabrey had seven.
The Black Bears (1-13) returns to Orono on Tuesday, Dec. 30 to wrap up non-conference action against UMFK. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 PM.
