Orono, Maine – The University of Maine basketball team fell in the regular season finale on Tuesday night, 67-56.

After a closely contested opening seven minutes where neither team staked out more than a four-point lead, the River Hawks were able to build a small lead up throughout the first half, ultimately holding a nine-point lead heading into halftime at 35-26.

Logan Carey had 10 points in the first half for Maine while Keelan Steele had six points and three rebounds.

Maine forced six turnovers in the opening half.

The Black Bears battled back to draw within a few points on a couple of occasions, but were unable to draw level the River Hawks, falling 67-56.

Notes:

Carey and Mekhi Gray both had 14 points in the contest.
Keelan Steele had nine points and eight rebounds while Gray had a season-high nine rebounds, one shy of his career-best.
Maine forced nine turnovers and held Lowell to 10% shooting from behind-the-arc.

The Black Bears (8-23) head on the road for the America East Quarterfinals on Saturday, Mar. 7 as they travel to NJIT. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 PM.
