Orono, Maine – The University of Maine basketball team was defeated by Canisius on Saturday afternoon, 70-43.

The Black Bears jumped out to an early 7-0 lead before Canisius scored the next 15 points to make it 15-7.

Maine got the score back to a six-point game before Canisius pushed the lead to double-digits, ultimately taking it into halftime at a score of 39-17.

Keelan Steele had six points, a block and a steal in 13 minutes of work.

Amare Allen had four points off the bench.

Canisius was able to sustain their lead throughout the second half, coming away with the victory, 70-43.
