Orono, Maine – The University of Maine basketball team was defeated by Brown on Sunday afternoon, 58-53.

The Black Bears struggled to find their offensive rhythm in the first half as Brown was able to push out their lead to double-digits before halftime, 33-23.

TJ Biel had seven points, two steals and two blocks heading into the break.

Maine came out in the second half with a much higher efficiency on the offensive end of the floor as they shot 46% from the field and 33% from three-point range in the half.

Maine cut the deficit down to three points with just under two minutes to go, but were unable to jump in front as Brown escaped with the win, 58-53.

- Biel led the way with 12 points, 3 steals and 2 blocks in a game-high 35 minutes of action.
- Ryan Mabrey had 11 points and three assists.
- Five other Black Bears had at least four points on the afternoon.
- Maine held Brown to 39% shooting from the field and 24% from three-point range.Â
The Black Bears (0-6) head to American University for a three-game tournament against American, Longwood and Siena that is set to begin on Nov. 28 and run through Nov. 30.
