Taking Home the Musket -- Maine will be looking to bring the Brice-Cowell Musket back to Orono for the first time since the 2021 season and for the first time in the Coach Stevens era when they make the trip to Durham on Saturday, Nov. 22.

Over the past three seasons, the Black Bears have lost 42-41 in overtime in 2022, 44-25 in 2023 and 27-9 last season.

Last Time Out -- The Black Bears had their six-game win streak halted by #9/#11 Rhode Island, 45-13. The win secured at least a share of the CAA title for Rhode Island and effectively removed the Black Bears from playoff contention for the 2025 season.

Carter Peevy did his part in the losing effort as he threw for 278 yards and a touchdown, while adding nine carries for 26 yards and another score, his seventh rushing touchdown of the season. Scott Woods paced the receiving core as he had five catches for 114 yards and a touchdown in the contest.

Christian Thomas had a team season-high and a career-high in tackles with 19 in the losing effort.

PEEVY ENTERING THE ZONE

Carter Peevy is in a stretch of playing his best football over his past seven performances he has thrown for 1,646 yards and 14 touchdowns over the past seven games. He has added a team-best five rushing touchdowns to that line during that stretch while only having three turnovers.

He had a pair of passing touchdowns and added a third score on the ground against N.C. A&T before adding another three passing touchdowns at Bryant, where he threw for a career-best at Maine 338 yards. He added another rushing score at Merrimack, the game-winning touchdown before adding two more passing and one more rushing touchdown against Elon. He had a three-touchdown game against Stony Brook, throwing for two and rushing for another score before turning in his second-career game of four passing touchdowns last time out against Hampton.

Peevy was named to Co-Offensive Player of the Week in the CAA after the N.C. A&T matchup, one of four honors for the Black Bears on the season.

MARSHALL TOPS THE DEPTH CHART

Rashawn Marshall enters week 13 earning his spot atop the Black Bears running back depth chart after having accumulated over 500 yards from scrimmage in the last five games and three touchdowns.

He took 22 total touches at Merrimack and turned them into 168 yards, 146 of those being rushing yards, before generating another 159 yards against Elon, 141 of those being rushing yards.

His biggest play of the season came against Elon when he capped off the scoring for Maine with a 61-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter. He was named the CAA Rookie of the Week following his Elon performance.

THOMAS CONTINUES HIS IMPACT

Christian Thomas looks to remain near the top of the CAA as he ranks second with 111 tackles, the 10th most in the NCAA.

He leads the Black Bears in tackles for loss (11), is second on the team in sacks (5) and leads the team in solo tackles with 49.

He was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week after the Elon matchup as he had nine tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, a sack and recovered a fumble.

He is coming off of a 19-tackle performance against Rhode Island.

TOP OF THE DEPTH CHART

Scott Woods and Mo Irefin are the clear #1 and #2 wide receivers on the Black Bears and have both eclipsed 200 yards receiving during the over the past seven games for the Black Bears.

Woods leads Maine with 51 catches and 620 yards, trailed by Irefin's 33 receptions for 381 yards.

Over the past seven games, Woods has 34 catches for 501 yards and four touchdowns while Irefin has 23 catches for 267 yards and a touchdown.

O-LINE PRESENCE

The Black Bears offensive line is in position to roll out the same crew for the eighth-straight contest, those being: Kocan (LT), Iliano (RT), Cruji (C), Boutaugh (RG) and Stanley (LG).

This group has allowed only three sacks in their last five contests.

For the season, the offensive line as a whole has only allowed 16 sacks in 11 games.

SAFETIES FORCING TAKEAWAYS

The safety group of Devin Vaught, Jake Kucera and Malcolm Folk have been leading the charge over the past nine games for the Black Bears as they have forced five takeaways over those games.

Vaught and Folk both forced takeaways as Georgia Southern, highlighted by a pick-6 from Vaught.

Kucera secured his first interception of his career two weeks later at Bryant before Vaught added a second interception to his season against Merrimack and a third against Elon.

EWING MAKES HISTORY

On November 1, Trevin Ewing became the all-time leader in kickoff return yards in program history as he has returned 2,417 yards (and counting) during his time at Maine.
