Preview: Maine hits the road to continue Hockey East play at Holy Cross

ORONO, Maine - The Maine women's ice hockey team will travel to Worcester, MA to face the Holy Cross Crusaders for two conference matchups on Nov 14/15. Game times are set for 7:00 PM and 5:00 PM, respectively, at Hart Center Arena.

BLACK BEARS' LAST TIME OUT:

  • Maine defeated Boston University on Friday at Alfond Arena, 3 to 1, for the team's first conference win of the season. Saturday the Black Bears lost 2-1, for a weekend split.
  • Senior Ava Stevenson netted two goals in the third period for the Black Bears to seal the win on Friday and rookie Isabelle Michaud scored the first goal for Maine just 27 seconds in.
  • Saturday, Maine lost 2-1 with Lily Fetch notching the lone goal on the powerplay.
  • Kiia Lahtinen played in goal both nights, as she's started all 11 games for Maine this season.

MAINE BY THE NUMBERS:

  • Kiia Lahtinen is third the nation in saves with 352, and holds a .924 save %
  • Maine is 4th in the nation on the Penalty Kill with a 93.9%.
  • Maine is 9th in the nation in blocked shots with 189. Sophomore Kendall Sundby leads the team with 24.

  • This season, Holy Cross has beat RPI (twice), Delaware, Dartmouth (twice), Post (twice) and Merrimack (twice).

LOOKING AHEAD:

Maine continues conference play at home on Nov 21/22 at Alfond Arena against #8/9 Northeastern. Game times are set for 6pm on Saturday and 4pm on Friday in Orono, ME.
