Penty scores in regular season finale loss at Vermont

The Black Bears enter the America East playoffs as the No. 5 seed and will travel to meet No. 4 UMass Lowell

Box Score BURLINGTON, Vt. -- The University of Maine field hockey team concluded the 2025 regular season with a 4-1 loss at Vermont on Thursday afternoon. Maine concludes the regular season at 6-11 overall and 1-4 in America East league play.

The Black Bears will enter the upcoming America East postseason tournament as the No. 5 seed and will travel to meet UMass Lowell on Sunday, Nov. 2 at noon.

After a scoreless first half, Vermont tallied three goals in the third quarter. 

Consu De castro started the scoring with her seventh goal of the season at 34:10. Just over three minutes later, Gabby Santini extended the lead to 2-0. 

Addie Delorefice's goal at 38:22 gave the Catamounts a 3-0 edge through three quarters.

Maine found the scoreboard at 47:57 off a set penalty corner. Brynn Dzengelewski inserted to Saylor Kuefler who made the flawless stop before Eloise Penty rifled her seventh goal of the season into the back of the cage. For Kuefler, the helper was her team-high 10th of the season.

Vermont's Veerle Nijuis added a fourth goal at 57:07 as the Catamounts captured the 4-1 victory.

Rozárie Mrázová notched 10 saves for Maine marking her third double-digit save performance of the season. 

The Catamounts held a 14-1 edge in shots on goal and a 6-1 differential in penalty corners.
