Field Hockey blanks Holy Cross, 2-0

Mrázová registers her second shutout of the season

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Eloise Penty and Martha Barratt each registered goals while Rozárie Mrázová registered a shutout to guide Maine in a 2-0 victory at Holy Cross on Sunday afternoon.

Mrázová, who made seven saves in the win, recorded her fourth career shutout and her second in the last three outings.

The Black Bears opened the scoring at 22:38 with a perfectly executed penalty corner set. Brynn Dzengelewski made the insert to Saylor Kuefler who settled before Penty blasted her sixth goal of the season.

Just under four minutes later, the Black Bears again capitalized off a penalty corner. This time with Penty inserting, Kuefler again made the stop before Barratt fired a drag-flick past the goalkeeper to put Maine on top, 2-0.

Neither team would score in the second half as the Black Bears secured the victory by a final of 2-0.

The Black Bears held a 17-7 edge in shots on goal while Holy Cross attempted 10 corners to Maine's seven.

The Black Bears close out the regular season on Thursday when they travel to take on Vermont at 3 p.m.
